TN Half-Yearly Exams Postponed: Tamil Nadu has postponed the half-yearly exam 2024 for Chennai, Chengalpattu, Thiruvallur, and Kancheepuram districts due to Cyclone Michaung. According to reports, however, the half-yearly exams scheduled to begin today, December 7, 2023, will be conducted as per schedule in other districts.
Reports suggest that schools in the above-mentioned districts where the half-yearly exams have been postponed can conduct the exams as per the situation and provide separate question papers to students appearing for the exam.
According to the revised dates, the TN Class 12 half-yearly language papers will be conducted on December 14, 2023, and the English exam scheduled for December 8, 2023, will be held on December 20, 2023.
According to reports, the half-yearly exams for students from class 6 to 11 however have not been postponed as per reports. The education department is expected to announce the half-yearly exams after reviewing the condition in the state.
Tamil Nadu has been affected by Cyclone Michaung in the last few days with floods and waterlogging issued. Districts like Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpet, and Kancheepuram were the worst affected due to the Cyclone. Schools in these districts have been closed for the last few days owing to severe rainfall and flood caused by the cyclone.
Considering the damage, the TN chief minister has sought a relief of Rs. 5060 Crore from the centre, as per reports. The chief minister in his recent announcement mentioned that the floodwaters in suburban regions of Chennai are still overrun and authorities have been working to provide everyone with necessities like food.
