TikTok is one of the leading destinations for short-form video content. The digital platform recently announced the launch of its #EduTok Program at an event in New Delhi on 18th October 2019. The program is a multi-phased integrated initiative aligned which aims to democratize e-learning for the Indian digital community on the platform. According to an official release by TikTok, the venture witnessed an overwhelming response from its users since its inception. The initiative, so far, saw about 10 million pieces of content created and shared using the hashtag #EduTok. The contents have 48+ billion views and shared more than 1.8 billion times.
TikTok launched the #EduTok program keeping in mind the greater benefits of Digital Learning. The platform, through this initiative, has formed a collaboration with some of the leading social enterprises such as the Nudge Foundation and Josh Talks to launch a mentorship program. The mentorship program is aimed to support first-time internet users by giving them access to high-quality educational content developed by creators and educational organizations for millions of users who are eager to learn. This will help the users to gain knowledge.
The release also stated that Josh Talks, as part of this mentorship program, will organize about 25 workshops. About 5,000 creative individuals will be shortlisted for these workshops and invited to have a hands-on learning experience that will be delivered by an already existing creator.
The/Nudge Foundation will also tailor-make content for the workshops, for the participating individuals. The content will cover critical topics such as Skill Development, Soft Skills, Identity Building, Career Planning and Job Readiness. The platform will organize the workshops from October 2019 to March 2020 across six states that include Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Jammu. Each of the workshops that will be organized will accommodate up to 200 users and will be conducted in the regional languages of the states.
