HRD Minister launches UGC scheme Paramarsh: Higher education has been in the priority list of the government and there has been efforts in this field to improve the standard of higher education. However, many of the higher education institutions have not been able to meet the standard of the education which gets assessed by the National Assessment Accreditation Council (NAAC). The Council has now come up with a new plan and under this plan, the institutes who fail to maintain the standard of education can get mentorship. The mentorship will be provided by the top universities and colleges of the country.
It is imperative to know here that the UGC has launched a new scheme named 'Paramarsh'. The scheme has been launched by the MHRD Mr. Nishank. The interesting thing to note is that there are colleges and universities which will be mentoring five colleges each. As of now, there are 71 universities and 391 colleges to play the role of mentors. However, the cap that has been put on is that the NAAC score of these colleges should be 3.26 and above. In a statement released by the MHRD, he said, "The first step of the mission that we had started to improve the quality and standards of education has been initiated by the UGC with the launch of Paramarsh and Deeksharambh schemes."
The universities and the colleges that will be playing the role of a mentor can appoint an expert. The expert will be paid a fellowship amount of Rs 31,000 per month. The financial aid will be provided to all those institutes that fall under the NAAC score of 3.26 and above. The scheme is aimed at making the Indian institutes perform well in the world ranking. It is necessary that the good institutes offer a helping hand towards those that are lagging behind.
