Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has begun the Placements for the students from December 1, 2020, onwards. The placements were conducted in a virtual mode with over 300 jobs being offered to the students. The top companies offering the jobs include Microsoft, Intel, and Goldman Sachs.
According to the statement released by the institute close to 300 plus national and international organizations will be offering more than 500 job profiles across the different sectors which have been registered for the hiring of the students. Many of the students have bagged placements in the placement drive which include pre-placement offers by the end of the first day of phase one of the placements.
150 Pre-Placement Offers
On day 1 of the placement drive close to 150 pre-placement offers have been secured by the students while 13 students have booted for a change in placement facility of the institute. The changes placement facility is available for the students who wish to set up a start-up post their graduation and the students who avail of this option will be able to use the placement services of the institute once for up to 2 years.
Many of the international recruiters have also registered for the IIT Delhi placement drive although due to the present COVID-19 situation with travel restrictions in many of the countries most of the companies are recruiting for domestic profiles until now and these may convert to international offers if the situation changes.
Hiring commenced in September
The Internship hiring season of IIT Delhi began in September for the 2020-21 academic year. Close to 350 and above internship offers were made to the students and international training offers were received from companies based in Hong Kong, South Korea, and the United States. Multiple internship offers have also been made to many of the students.
Other IITs including IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee have conducted placements for 2020. Many of the institutes have recorded a high number of placements given the present COVID-19 situation.
