IIT Madras Placement 2020: As per the media reports, the Phase 1 of Placement Season at IIT Madras has started on a positive note with over 102 job offers being made to the students recently. According to reports, the first phase of placement season which commenced on the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras campus saw participation from well-known brands including Microsoft, Uber and Investment giant Goldman Sachs. During the the first phase of placement session 1.1, which began at IIT-Madras here on Sunday, over 20 firms from different domains and verticals made offers to the students from the institute for a variety of different roles.
Positive Start to Phase 1
As per reports published by the institute, the first day of Phase 1 of Placement Season kick-off on a positive note. Although the number of companies or firms participating in the placement activities has reduced, the number of offers extended on the day 1 of placement season increased. The number of job offers made increased by 85% on the first day of Phase 1 as compared to last year. Last year, 19 companies have made 85 offers during the first session of Day 1.
On Sunday, a total of 102 offers were extended to the students of IIT Madras by several reputed companies. This also includes 4 international offers which were extended to the students by top companies such as Microsoft and Uber. The Phase 1 of IIT Madras Placement Season 2019-20 will continue until 8th December 2019.
Top Domains and Sectors
As per the report released by the institute, maximum offers came from computer science and consulting sectors. Among the top recruiters, Tech Giant Microsoft clinched the top spot with 20 offers followed by Investment Major Goldman Sachs which made 11 offers and top Mobile Chipmaker Qualcomm extending 9 offers to the students. In consulting sector, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) made 7 offers to the students during the Phase 1. Among Indian organizations, ISRO made 6 offers to students from IIT Madras.
According to IIT Madras, a total of 1,334 students have registered for placements this year. The total number of companies registered for Phase I placement season is 227, the release added.
