School Holiday on August 26: Janmashtami will be celebrated across the country on August 26, 2024. Schools, colleges and banks will remain closed in many parts of the country. While the festival is prominently celebrated in a few states, there are some states where the holiday will not be applicable. Students are advised to confirm with their schools and colleges regarding the holiday on August 26.
This year Janmashtami will be celebrated on 26 August 2024 and the festival of Dahi Handi will be celebrated on 27 August 2024. Schools will remain open in places like Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur (Maharashtra), Belgaum (Belgavi), Bengaluru, Bhopal, Guwahati, Kochi, Kohima, Mumbai, Nagpur, Imphal, Itanagar, New Delhi, Panaji, Thiruvananthapuram. Schools in Ahmedabad, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla and Srinagar will however remain closed during Janmashtami.
