For JoSAA Counselling 2021, admission to IITs will be granted on the basis of JEE Advanced 2021 All India Rank of the Candidate. Also, after qualifying in respective exams, candidates are required to register for JoSAA Counselling 2021 process through the official portal and choose the institutes and courses in which they seek seats. The document says that “The academic programs, along with the category-wise intake capacity, will be announced on the online portal https://josaa.nic.in.”
20% Seats to be Filled by Female Candidates
To ensure gender-neutral campuses as far as premier technology institutes are concerned, the JoSAA Business Rules state that a minimum of 20% of seats for undergraduate programmes are to be filled by female candidates. What is Freeze, Float and Slide Options for JoSAA Counselling
As part of JoSAA Counselling Process 2021, candidates who have been allocated a seat needs to accept the seat allocated and opt for any one of the options - ‘freeze’, ‘slide’ or ‘float’ for the choice of the academic program for the subsequent rounds if any. Before opting for any of the above-mentioned options, they must understand these terms.
- Freeze: This option means that the candidate accepts the offered seat for the academic program. Further, they do not want to participate in other rounds of seat allocation while keeping the same seat. Such candidates will not be considered in subsequent rounds of JoSAA 2021 (if any) while their chosen seat remains allocated to them.
- Float: Those option for this option indicates that the candidate accepts the offered seat but in case, they get a better preference in any Institute then the candidate will accept it. Else, the candidate will continue with the currently accepted academic program. Such candidates will be considered in subsequent rounds of JoSAA.
- Slide: This means that the candidate accepts the offered seat. However, if they get admission to an academic program of higher preference within the same Institute, the candidate will accept it. Such candidates will be considered in subsequent rounds of JoSAA (if any).
Also, for those who choose the float or slide option, allocation of a seat in an academic program of the candidate’s higher preference will automatically result in the forfeiture of the seat accepted by the candidate in the earlier round. Slide and float options will be available to only those candidates who are not offered admission to their first preference. Except in the last round of seat allocation, a candidate can change from float to slide/freeze and slide to freeze on the online portal.
Reporting at the Institute
At the end of joint seat allocation and seat acceptance, candidates will have to report at their respective allotted institute, complete all the admission formalities and get the admission confirmed. At the time of the reporting, all the certificates will be verified by the admitting Institute and the admission will be cancelled if these fail to meet the desired certificate formats. Such candidates will not be eligible for appearing in JEE (Advanced) 2022.
