Maharashtra Gov’t Allows Online Classes: As per the official announcement, Maharashtra State Government has permitted holding of online classes for Pre-Primary and 1st and 2nd Class students amid school closures due to COVID-19 pandemic. As per the official guidelines, students will be given a daily 30-minute session for five days a week as part of online learning module. In a decision announced in June, the state government had decided to exclude pre-primary and Class 1 and Class 2 students from its circular which announced start of online classes from 15th June 2020 onwards for all other students. However, now, with schools still closed and academic sessions already mid-way, the state has revised its circular to include Pre-Primary and Class 1 and Class 2 students as well within the ambit of online classes.
30 Minutes Class Daily for 5 Days
According to the guidelines released by the Maharashtra Government, Pre-Primary Class students will be allowed exposure to 30 minutes of online classes daily for 5-days in a week. During the online classes, teachers or educators will directly interact with the students as well as their parents, and guide them about need and way of adopting online learning for young students. On similar lines, for Class 1 and Class 2 students, two sessions of 30 minutes each have been allowed for online classes. The directions given by state government say that the first 15-minute session will be for interaction and training of parents and the second session will be of activity-based learning for students.
Revision in Time of Online Sessions for Other Students
Apart from allowing online classes for Pre-Primary and Class 1 and Class 2 students, the state government has also revised the time duration of online classes for other students i.e. students from Class 3 onwards. As per the revised guidelines, Class 3 to Class 8 students have been allowed two online classes sessions of 45 minutes each every day. On similar lines, For Classes 9 to 12, there will be up to four sessions of 45 minutes each every day. The decision has been confirmed by School Education Varsha Gaikwad as well.
