Tripura State Government has announced the introduction of the Super 30 programme to aid the students of the state aspiring for medical and Engineering courses to prepare for the NEET and JEE examinations for the academic year.
According to reports, the scheme will fund up to 30 students based on their marks in the Science subjects in the Madhyamik examinations conducted by Tripura Board. The state education minister Ratan Lal Math while speaking to the informed that the beneficiaries of the scheme will be selected along with the SC and ST reservations included.
The Tripura Board of Secondary Education has been asked to prepare the list of students based on the board examination results. The list of students will be deduced from a separate draft os list of 20 SC candidates and 30 ST candidates and 50 general candidates which will be prepared by the board. It, however, has been mentioned that the students selected for the programme will have to have an annual family income less than Rs. 8 Lakh to avail the benefit.
Details of the Scheme
The state government will also sponsor each of the selected students to study at elite coaching institutes of their choice across the country. The state is estimated to have financial involvement of Rs. 72 lakhs a year at Rs. 2.40 lakhs for every candidate. The scheme is estimated to incur Rs. 1.44 Crore in the following year.
The education minister also stated that the officials of the education department will be in charge of inspecting the progress of their study by visiting respective coaching centres twice a year and conducting a quarterly reviewing of the performance of the students.
Previous Year Examination Data
According to data from Tripura Board 3,690 students have appeared for the examinations in the science stream in the senior secondary stream in 2019. Although many of the students apply for the entrance examination in the coaching centres most of them do not get a shot due to the lack of resources for studying with the best coaching centres of the country.
