UP Government has decided to employ Artificial Intelligence based bots to upgrade the Secondary School Education in the state, as per latest report. Following in the footsteps of CBSE Board, Uttar Pradesh Government is also planning to use Artificial Intelligence AI-bots to improve and upgrade the Secondary School Education System in the state. The state government and its education department is planning to use AI bots to monitor and upgrade the education system at secondary schools and make it free from corruption and negligence.
To be implemented from UP Board Exam 2020
UP State Education Department confirmed that the department was planning to implement the AI Bot based system to improve school education and check cheating and malpractices in the Board Exam. However, currently, the system was still in at its conceptual stage and requires thorough testing before being formally rolled out. Education Department is looking make the system operational for the 2020 board examinations.
What will the system do?
The board will install Artificial Intelligence based system in UP Government schools to monitor and check malpractices during the examination. The system is expected to identify and track proxy invigilators and students who are participating in the board exams. Additionally, using Artificial Intelligence, education department will also be able to judge a student’s performance based on their previous grades and participation.
Further providing information about effectiveness of the AI bots, an official from UP Education Department said that, due to the sheer size of the state, Uttar Pradesh suffers from severe shortage of teachers. Going forward, this adversely affects the quality of teaching standards in the state schools. To overcome this, students as well as teachers resort to malpractices such as proxy attendance, which will be overcome using AI based bots.

Earlier in the month, CBSE announced that it has partnered with Technology giant Microsoft to develop curriculum for Artificial Intelligence subject for Class 9 students. CBSE along with Microsoft will run a capacity building programme for high schools teachers. The partnership is aimed at developing integrated cloud powered technology for school students upto Class 12. Additionally, the board is also likely to include AI and Early Childhood Care Education (ECCE) as an elective skill-based subject in school curriculum.
