14 New Sports Acknowledged and Added In Schools by Maharashtra Government

The Maharashtra state government has acknowledged 14 new games and sports type that includes squash, karate, wushu, kayaking as well as canoeing, of the Indian Schools' Sports Federation. Students involving themselves in these sports will get 25 grace marks if they fail.

The Maharashtra state government has acknowledged 14 new games and sports type that includes squash, karate, wushu, kayaking as well as canoeing, of the Indian Schools' Sports Federation. Students involving themselves in these sports will get 25 grace marks if they fail. Besides, participants can also avail financial assistance after they get chosen in the state-level teams.

These 14 new sports and games are; Tennis ball, Tennikoit, Sepak Takraw, Canoeing, Soft tennis, Tug-of-war, Jump rope, Tennis volleyball, Martial arts, Wushu, Kayaking, Squash, Karate, Wood ball and Shooting ball. These sports haven been included in the curriculum by schools to spruce and train potential sportsmen.

Currently, about 44 games are at present being played in the  tournaments of national-level sports. Of these new 14 games, 2 games which are wood ball and shooting ball, are currently being played at state-level competitions in the country.

Following the recognition, the schoolchildren taking part in these sports/games will get 25 grace marks if they fail, and upon being selected in state level teams, students may get financial aid as well.
