25% Seats will be Reserved in all Kendriya Vidyalaya for the Economically Weaker Section

    From the academic session 2014, 25% seats in all the Kendriya Vidyalaya will be reserved for the economically weaker section category, as per the orders of Supreme Court guidelines. If the case of exceeding number of application beyond the capacity arises, a lottery system shall be adopted for that admission year, for each category.

    15 February 2014 is the date when 1,100 Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) Schools will commence their admission procedure for entry level - Class 1 students. The official notification and guidelines for the same will soon be declared by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.

    More than lakh students are to obtain admission in Class I across all KV schools.

    The Delhi NCR shall witness round about 20,000 students to get admission in 80 KV Schools across the region, while the Delhi alone comprises 60 Kendriya Vidyalayas.

    "There will not be any major changes in admission guidelines from last year. Minor changes can be notified if necessary to bring more clarity within categories.

    The KV admission process will follow the RTE Act guidelines under which 25% seats will be reserved by the schools for EWS category. Also, the neighborhood policy will be implemented. However, besides these no other major changes in the policy of admission guidelines will be adopted, as informed by the commissioner of KVS Avinash Dikshit.

    Admission test for up to Class VIII is exempted.

    In addition, 5 categories for admissionwould be entertained on prioritythat comprise children of transferable and non-transferable central government employees, children of transferable and non-transferable employees of autonomous bodies, public sector undertakings and institute of higher learning of Government of India, children of state government employees and children of state government PSUs.

    Dinesh Kumar, additional commissioner for Academics in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, told that the admission process will conclude on 31 March 2014.

    He added that admission seat from Class II onwards will be offered as per the then vacancy status of each school for that particular class.

    Parents can obtain application forms in the respective KV schools, once admission opening dates are declared. To obtainor download the school Performa the official website can be referred. The website will also allow you to fill the form that can be submitted at respective schools.

    While, for the admission for students of Class II onwards, their parents need to contact the schools individually to know the vacancy status for admission seats, informed Kumar.
