32 American Received Rhodes Scholarships to Oxford University for 2014 Session

    The Thirty-two Americans as Rhodes-scholars have been picked to get entry to Oxford University in Britain, for 2014 session in next year. The selected scholars will join Oxford University continuing in the high-status list of former recipients of one of the most desirable awards in academic world.

    Among the 32 Americans, Six candidates belong to Harvard University, while 3 from both Yale University and Stanford University.

     The list of former scholarship winner comprises of Nobel laureates along with heads of state. The Rhodes scholarship was created in 1902; the awardees get the full cost covered of the Oxford’s post-graduate degree along with other expenses.

    The 2014 American scholars were declared on 23 November and they shall arrive from 21 US states. They will be undertaking master degrees or Ph. D in disciplines ranging from anthropology to neuroscience.  The other new Rhodes scholars that 32 Americans scholars are going to join at Oxford University belong to other countries.

    The scholars are selected based on their high academic achievement, integrity of character, a spirit of generosity, respectful, portraying leadership characteristics, and physical dynamism as told by Elliot Gerson, the American secretary of the Rhodes Trust.

    The former American Rhodes scholars comprise of: former President Bill Clinton, current national security adviser Susan Rice, former NBA star and senator Bill Bradley, current senators Cory Booker and David Vitter, Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal, former secretary of state Dean Rusk, actor Kris Kristofferson, film director Terrence Malick, and journalists Nicholas Kristof and Rachel Maddow.
