Amidst roaring controversy and rumors of paper leak, the Allahabad University conducted the general awareness paper for PGAT 2016 admissions to all courses on campus on 24 June 2016. The test was conducted online and took place in 80 online and 26 offline examination centres across 18 cities in the country.
The time slots allotted for the examination was 9 am to 12 noon and 2 pm to 5 pm., for PGAT and MEd, Bed and other professional courses respectively. The tests were commenced as per schedule and the rumors did not affect the examination. In the Allahabad city, the test got conducted in 8 online and 5 offline centres. The controversy over the examination began when allegedly pictures of the question paper got circulated in a WhatsApp group of AU authorities.
The authorities have denied claims from the student leaders that the General awareness paper had been leaked through WhatsApp. Stating that the leak was impossible, the Director of Admission of AU, Prof. B N Singh said that the cellphones were prohibited in the exam premises at the time of the examinations and there was no way anyone can circulate it through taking pictures.
According to Singh, “I have received some complaints about cheating at one of the room at test centre of the entrance for combined research entrance test (CRET), conducted on Thursday and I am looking onto the matter and may debar the involved room.”
