Atishi Education Journey: Aam Aadmi Party MLA Atishi Marlena Singh is set to become Delhi’s Chief Minister. She will take over from party head Arvind Kejriwal, who announced his decision to step down from the post earlier. Atishi currently serves as the Minister of Education, Women and Child Welfare, Tourism, Culture and Public Works Department.
AAP chief Kejriwal on Tuesday announced Atishi’s name for the Chief Minister post as Kejriwal will tender his resignation after meeting with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena.
Following this, several names were doing the rounds for the top job including those of Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Raghav Chaddha and Atishi. However Atishi emerged as the frontrunner.

Atishi completed her school and college education in Delhi. Atishi did her schooling from Springdale School in New Delhi.
Undergraduate Education

She studied history at St. Stephen’s College, where she stood first in the Delhi University.
Postgraduate Education
- She went on to Oxford University to pursue her Master’s on a Chevening scholarship.
- A few years later she earned her second Master’s from Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar in Educational Research.
Atishi Political Career
- Atishi became associated with the AAP in 2013.
- In 2015, Atishi was appointed as an advisor to Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister and education minister. She played an important role in shaping the party’s policies in the early stages of formation.
- Atishi played a pivotal role in revamping the state of education in government run schools in the national capital.
- Atishi contributed to the improvement of the infrastructure of government schools in the national capital and putting rules in place to prevent private schools from raising fees among others.
She is credited with launching initiatives such as the "Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum" and the "Happiness Curriculum". - In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Atishi fought from East Delhi but lost to the BJP candidate Gautam Gambhir.
- In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, Atishi won from the Kalkaji constituency defeating the candidates of BJP and Congress.

Talking about the educational background of Delhi's new Chief Minister, Atishi holds a double master’s degree from the prestigious Oxford University in London.
