Examinations of Class XI and XII Altered by Gujarat Board

Sep 30, 2015 14:59 IST

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) on requests of the students and parents have given up and altered the third semester examination of Class XII and first semester examination of Class XI. The examination which was scheduled to begin from November 2 and continue till November 9 would now be conducted from October 30 instead. The reason for the demand in change of the examination date was due to the fact that 9th October was Dhanteras, which is a big festival in Gujarat.

The students and parent’s body made representations to the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) so that they change their examination dates for these classes. Finally the board had to give in in the rising demand of the parents and students alike. On November 9, Dhanteras would be celebrated around the state which is a two day festivity and is celebrated before the Diwali. On the contradictory note while the academic calendar was being announced at the beginning of the academic session, it was decided that the board would announce commencement of Diwali vacation from November 9.
