Essential Qualification: Degree of Bachelor of Laws from a University established by the law and approved / recognized by the Bar Council of India.

Selection Procedure: The selection of candidates for appointment in HCS (Jud. Branch) will be made on their performance in Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Viva-Voce. The HCS (Judicial Branch) Examination will be conducted in accordance with the provisions contained in the Punjab Civil Services (Judicial Branch) Rules, 1951 as applicable to the state of Haryana.
The 2 hour Preliminary Examination will have 125 multiple-choice objective type questions of 4 marks each. For every wrong answer 0.20% (1/5th) mark shall be deducted. However, marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination will not be counted towards final result.
Candidates qualifying the Preliminary Examination shall be allowed to appear for the written exam which will be of subjective / narrative type. Candidates equal to 10 times the number of vacancies will be allowed to sit in the Main Examination. Candidates qualifying for the Main Examination will have to apply again on separate application form for Main Examination.
Candidates thrice the number of posts, qualifying the Main Examination, will be called for viva-voce.
The result of Preliminary Examination and other announcements relating to the Examination will be available on Punjab & Haryana High Court website and also on Haryana Public Service Commission website.
How to Obtain Application form for Main Exam: Candidates qualifying the Preliminary Examination can obtain the Application Form for the Main Examination from the office of Haryana Public Service Commission, Bays No. 1-10, Block - B, Sector - 4, Panchkula on cash payment at the counter between 1000 hrs and 1300 hrs and between 1400 hrs and 1600 hrs on all working days.
1. Male Candidates of General category including Dependent Son of ESM of Haryana and of General / all reserved categories of other State should obtain the Pink form by making payment of Rs.1000.
2. Female Candidates of General category of all states and Dependent Daughters of ESM of Haryana only should obtain the Orange form by making payment of Rs.250
3. Male & Female candidates of SC / BC and ESM categories of Haryana only should obtain the Green form by making payment of Rs.250
4. PH Male & Female candidates (with atleast 40% disability) of Haryana only should obtain the Green form Free of Cost
Application forms can also be obtained through post at least 10 days prior to the closing date from ‘The Secretary, Haryana Public Service Commission, Bays No. 1-10, Block-B, Sector- 4, Panchkula, (Phone No. 0172-2560755)’ by remitting the required fees (as stated above) through Indian Postal Orders / Bank Drafts (from any branch of Scheduled Bank of India) payable to ‘The Secretary, Haryana Public Service Commission at Panchkula’.
Candidates must write their name, address in block letters, name of the post for which application form is required and category of form i.e. General including Dependent Son / Daughter of ESM of Haryana and another for reserved category. No application form will be supplied to a candidate who does not remit the full prescribed cost of application form and envelop as stated above. No extra fee, other than the cost of application form and envelop as stated above, will be required to be paid along with the application form.
Syllabus for the Main Examination: General and basic over view of the main subjects and Knowledge of current events of national and international importance, Indian legal and constitutional history and governance. Analytical skills and aptitude test. The standard of the question paper shall be of Law graduate level.
How to Apply: Duly filled in application forms for admission to the Preliminary Examination must reach Commission’s office: Haryana Public Service Commission, Bays No. 1-10, Block-B, Sector- 4, Panchkula either by post or is delivered personally on or before the prescribed closing date
Note:
The OMR Sheets (Answer Sheets) will be scanned by Computer so there is no provision of re-checking / re-evaluation.
Examination Schedule will be intimated to candidates in due course while sending Admit Cards.

Mobile phones, Pagers, or any other communication/electronic devices are not allowed inside the premises where Commission’s examination is being conducted.
