IGNOU’s Research and Teaching Assistantship Programme Notification 2011

The Research and Training Assistantship (RTA) programme of IGNOU aims to provide a unique opportunity for postgraduates to do full time research as part of a most rigorous and high quality PhD programme along with a minimum of 8 hours per week of teaching or teaching assistance under the guidance and supervision of a senior teacher in the various schools/ centres/ institutes/ units. It invites application from eligible postgraduate candidates with consistently good performance in any academic discipline for this programme.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: The candidates should be a first class (60% aggregate) Post Graduate in all examinations in any discipline. The candidate should have an aptitude for teaching and full time research leading to PhD.

Age Limit: Maximum 25 years as on 30 September 2011 (relaxable for 5 years for women candidates and SC/ ST/ PH)

Emoluments

The Research and Training Assistantship (RTA) carries a monthly Fellowship of Rs 18000 (consolidated) plus HRA as per Government of India rules. The RTA award will be initially for a period of three years, with annual review.

From 3rd year onwards, depending upon excellence in progress and performance, the monthly fellowship will be enhanced to Rs 20,000. There will also be an annual contingent grant of Rs 20,000.
