Delhi government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad as the later will provide training to the Principals of 1,024 schools. These schools are run by Directorate of Education, Delhi.
The training aims to aid the principal(s) function in a better manner. In this regard, Delhi’s Education Minister Manish Sisodia has commented that “The Government is serious about building skills and capacities of all principals, teachers working in our schools, and I am confident this step will go a long way towards improving the way individual school managements function.”
The training is targeted to improvise various aspects which are concerned with the quality of schools in terms of infrastructure, teaching-learning methodology, narrowing learning deficits, etc. Education heads will be trained because they are the foundation of an educational institute and it is important to strengthen school leaders.
The training programme incorporates an intensive course of a period of 18 months. The programme will be administered by IIM-Ahmedabad. The sessions of training will be conducted at the institute’s Right to Education Resource Centre.
