The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) and Applied Materials, Inc. announced the launch of India’s certification course in semiconductor technology and manufacturing.
The objective of the course id to address the need for developing a trained, high-tech workforce in the country. The seven day course will kick start from November 19-25 and will be offered twice a year.
The Course modules include topics such as, semiconductor technology, including very large-scale integration (VLSI), a semiconductor equipment overview and a lab equipment user training.
As per a study done in the year 2011, the Indian electronics consumption will grow to USD 400 billion by the year 2020 and in case the industry's manufacturing rate does not improve, it would be able to produce only twenty percent of the projected requirement.
