About the Institute: Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) is a unique institution devoted to research, natural sciences and Social Sciences and the teaching and application of Statistics. The Headquarters of ISI is located in Kolkata. Additionally, there are four centers in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Tezpur. The primary activity of the Institute includes Research in Statistics and related disciplines.
Year of Establishment: 1931
Purpose: An all India entrance test is conducted for admission to the various courses offered by ISI such as BStat, MStat, MSc, MTech in Computer Science and Junior research fellowships in various specialized fields of study.
Cost of Form: Rs. 450 (Includes prospectus); Rs. 225 for reserved categories
Eligibility Criteria: Class 12 Pass with English and Mathematics.
Date of Examination: 8 May, 2011
Deadline for Application Submission: 28 March, 2011
Selection Process: Each candidate is supposed to take two entrance tests:
The first has objective type questions while the second has descriptive.
Based on the tests, the candidates are shortlisted for personal interview. Selection is based on merit, written test and Interview.
Relaxation is given to SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates in accordance with govt. norms.
Candidates who have cleared the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) Test, conducted by the National Board for Higher Mathematics are exempted from these tests and called for direct interview.
