The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission has released notification to recruit trained graduate teachers in various disciplines. The combined number of vacancies is 17572. So, this is a nice opportunity for all of you to make a career in the subject in which you have passed your graduation. Jharkhand SSC TGT Exam 2017: Age Criteria

The age criteria for this recruitment exercise are as follows:-

  • Minimum age: 21 years.
  • Maximum Age: 40 years (for other than primary school teachers) and 45 years (for primary school teachers). The age limit is relaxable for 3 years in case of women candidates, 2 years for Other Backward Class candidates and 5 years for SC/ST Candidates in both the categories i.e. non-primary and primary schools.

The educational qualification required for the posts is as follows:-


Educational Qualification

Hindi, English, Oriya, Bengali, Geography, Economics, Home Science, Commerce, Panchparganiya, Nagpuriya, Kurmali, Mundari, Kudukh, Khariya, Ho, Agriculture, Santhali, Social Science, Khortha

Bachelor’s Degree in the concerned subject with a minimum of 45 percent marks from a university recognized by the central or the state government along with a B. Ed. degree from any organization recognized by NCTE (The stipulated criteria need a minimum of 40% marks in graduation for SC/ST Category candidates).

Urdu, Arabic, Parsi, Sanskrit

A degree in the concerned subject from any recognized university with a minimum of 45 percent marks along with B. Ed. degree (SC/ST candidates require 40% in graduation).

You may also apply if you have a post-graduate degree in any of the subjects or you have a recognized degree from specialized and recognized organizations along with a B. Ed. degree from an NCTE approved organization.

Mathematics / Physics

Same as above in the concerned subject.

Biology / Chemistry

Same as above in the concerned subject.

History / Civics

Same as above in the concerned subject.


Matriculation degree from recognized board along with degree in music from a recognized university.

Physical Education

Graduation degree with a minimum of 45 percent marks from a recognized university along with a degree in physical education (SC/ST Candidates need to score at least 40 percent marks in graduation).

You must hold the required minimum qualification as on the last date of application for the advertisement i.e. 15th March 2017, whereas the last date for depositing the application fee is 20th March 2017.

Jharkhand SSC TGT Exam 2017: Exam Pattern

The Staff Selection Commission is going to conduct the trained graduate teacher recruitment examination in a single phase that is going to consist of two papers:-

  • Paper I: General Knowledge and Hindi Knowledge
  • Paper II: A Paper on the concerned subject


Paper -I will consist of 200 marks each carrying 1 mark. The total time allotted for this paper will be 3 hours. Questions will all be a MCQ type with multiple answers and you are required to find the correct answer. This paper will be qualifying in nature and you need to score at least 33 percent in this paper. If you are not able to qualify in this paper, Paper II will not be evaluated.

There will be 100 questions each in General knowledge and Hindi language. In the Hindi Language paper, you will have 50 questions in Hindi comprehension and 50 questions in Hindi grammar. In the GK section, you will have questions from general science, static GK, history, geography, political science and international relations, Indian Culture, Indian national movement, Current affairs and general mental ability.

Paper II

Paper II will consist of 150 questions and the total marks allotted will be 300 marks. That means you will have 2 marks for each question. In order to qualify in this paper, you need to score at least 50 percent marks if you are a general category candidate & For other categories, you need to score at least 45 percent.

  • For candidates in maths and physics subject, there will be 75 questions each in both the subjects.
  • For candidates in chemistry and biology, candidates will have to face 50 questions each for botany, zoology and chemistry.
  • For History and civics, there will be 75 questions each in both the subjects.

Your selection is based on your marks in Paper II only. There is no negative marking in any papers.

Jharkhand SSC TGT Exam 2017: Other important points

Before applying for the SSC TGT Examination, you are advised to take note of the following points:-

  • You cannot apply for only one district: In the recruitment process, you can apply only for your native district. If you apply for more than one district, your candidature is liable to be cancelled.
  • You can apply for more than one subject: If you meet the eligibility criteria for more than one subject, you can apply for the same. However, you can apply for only one district.
  • Applications will be online only: You need to submit the applications online only and for this the last date is 15th March 2017 and the last date for depositing fees is 20th March 2017.
  • The Examination will be in pen and paper mode: The examination will be conducted in the offline mode. OMR Sheets will be used in the examination and evaluation will be computer based.  
  • Application Fees for the examination: The application fee for the exam is Rs.460 for general candidates and Rs.115 for SC/ST candidates. There will be service charges for paying the fees through any bank specified in the advertisement.
  • You degrees should be recognized: All the degrees mentioned in the advertisement must be obtained from a university that has been recognized by the state or the central government. For B. Ed. Course, your degree should be approved by NCTE. If your university has given you a grade based result, the equivalence percentage should be specified by the university itself. In any case, the final decision is reserved at the commission end.
  • No interview is there: Your selection is based on your marks in the Paper II of the examination. A panel of candidates will be prepared for each of the specified districts after the exam and appointment will be given after medical examination only.
