Eligibility Criteria for a Government Social Worker

To become a social worker, it is essential that the candidate possess a Bachelor's degree and a Diploma or Master's Degree in Social Work/Psychology/Counseling from a recognized university. Apart from this, candidates with the following qualifications are given preference for the selection of the post of Social Worker:

  • Specialised Diploma or Certificate relate to concerned posts such as Women / child development or health or environmental etc.,.
  • Knowledge of Computer
  • Knowledge of the local language where the field is appointed
  • Able to write and create reports

Age Limit for a Government Social Worker

Candidate should be between 18 years to 35 years. However, the maximum age limit in some organisation the age limit is 40/45 years. The candidates, who are related to reserved categories, such as SC, ST, OBC, etc, are exempted according to the maximum age limit as per the rules of the government.

Salary of a Government Social Worker

Social Worker who works on temporary basis for the government, generally get  Rs. 20000-25000/ -. Although, the organizations in which this appointment is on a permanent basis the Seventh Pay Commission has been implemented.

Where can a social worker get government job?

The state and local government agencies of India time-to time publish notification for  the recruitment of Social Worker's post in its various social departments & projects and NGOs  such as hospitals, UNICEF, juvenile homes, state homes for women, , child and women development projects, etc. All these vacancies are updated through the Employment News, Daily Newspapers and Government Jobs Information Portals or Mobile Application published from the publication department of the Government of India.
