A survey 'MBA in India', conducted by India College Search, has revealed that MBA course is the most preferred PG Programme among students in India.
The survey had data sourced from various zones, cities, age and gender for the year 2012 and 2013. The sample of survey comprised the study of more than 2 million internet searches regarding MBA educational facilities in India, made by students as well as working professionals, from both India and abroad.
Major cities such as Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai and New Delhi had witnessed the maximum searches from. The survey also revealed that searches made by females were higher by 4 per cent than others, with highest interest to be coming from the age group of 21-24 years.
The survey information added more revelations such as two most popular entrance examinations in India are the Common Admission Test (CAT) and Common Management Admission Test (CMAT).
While, Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP), Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) and ICFAI Business School Aptitude Test (IBSAT) remain on the list of top 5 entrance examinations for MBA in India.
According to the survey, the highest internet searches were made for MBA in Finance, followed by Human Resources and Marketing.
The survey in terms of salary stated that in 2013 the average annual salary offered to the students getting placed from the CAT score accepting institutes was Rs. 2.79 lakh, which increased slightly from the previous year.
The average annual salary for the students of those institutes which accepts CMAT scores rose to around Rs. 2.23 lakh in 2013, from being Rs. 2.20 lakh (approx), in 2012.
All in all , the survey had a say that despite many seats of MBA courses remained vacant in the former year, yet the notion that MBA qualification is not as popular as it used to be is far from being true.
