Mixed response to new DU courses

Some new courses were added in different Colleges of Delhi university, for which response differ with the college and course. As Gargi College introduced an economics course which receive 250 application against 40 seats. These new courses fail to attract students to north campus because of the sky high cutoff. The new course started by Miranda college is Computer Science and the cutoff set for this course was 97.25%- 98% for which only 10 students applied on the first day.

93% is set as the cutoff for economics offered by Gargi college in first cutoff list. Shashi Tyagi, Principal of Gargi college said that they will admit applied students as they have to fill seats however she hopes that students will later switch to commerce or after declaration of result of entrance exam opt for bachelor in management studies.

However, only 10 students applied for the computer science course added in the Miranda College. To this less response Pratibha Jolly, principal of Miranda House said that the cutoff will slowly lowered however they have to keep the high cutoff for the first list. However response to other courses was good despite of high cutoff.

SGTB Khalsa also launched computer science and set the cutoff  at 97.5%-99% which is quite high. Despite of that 5-6 students got admission to the course. Principal Jaswinder Singh added that they have to set a high cutoff as the course target to non-science students also.
