Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya Sagar is one of the leading Central Universities in Madhya Pradesh and was previously known as University of Saugor. The foundation of the University was laid down on 18 July 1946 by Dr Sir Hari Singh Gour. The University announced admissions to MPhil and PhD programme in various subjects.

Important Dates

• Last date to apply online: 5 April 2013
• Deadline to receive the print out of online submitted form: 15 April 2013
• Entrance Test conducts on: 29May 2013 (9.00 am to 12.30 pm)
• Probable dates of the declaration of results: 10 June to 15 June 2013
• Interview conducts on: 5 July 2013

Eligibility Criteria

For MPhil

• Admission seekers must have Master’s Degree with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PH candidates) or equivalent CGPA or equivalent qualification from UGC recognised Universities / Institutes.
• Age Limit: Maximum 28 years as on 1 July 2013.

For PhD

• Candidates should possess Master’s Degree with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PH candidates) or equivalent CGPA or equivalent qualification from UGC recognised Universities / Institutes to appear in the entrance examination.
• Aspirants studying in the final semester of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
• Age Limit: Maximum 28 years as on 1 July 2013.

Application Fee and Mode of Payment

The entrance test fee for various categories mentioned below:

• General: Rs 900
• OBC (NCL): Rs 450
• SC/ ST/ PH/ VH: Rs 225

The fee must be deposited through Challan forms SBI “POWER JYOTI ACCOUNT” A/c No 32000156472 (Subhead - F) payable in any Branch of State Bank of India (SBI), all over India.

Admission Process

For MPhil: Candidates will be selected on merit based by evaluating their performance in the interview held by the concerned department of the University.

For PhD: The admission of the applicants will be conducted through following two methods:

• Direct admission through interview
• Through Entrance examination followed by interview
