New Scholarships for Indian Finance Professionals from UK

For Indian Finance Professionals to study in Britain and acquire higher studies, the United Kingdom government announced a first of its kind scholarship programme. The Chancellor of UK George Osborne launched the Chevening Financial Services Leadership programme during a meeting with Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in London.

According to a statement released by the UK’s Treasury department, “It will be the first of its kind and help strengthen future financial ties between the two countries, while further cementing Britain’s position as the centre for global finance.” In the meeting the two ministers of the countries discussed in detail about the passage of Insurance Bill in India. Passage of the bill would create vast opportunities for UK Insurers in India and would help deepening economic ties between the two nations.

The exchequer secretary to the Treasury of London Priti Patel met Jaitley after the talks got over between the two ministers. Patel would be co-hosting a roundtable meeting with the City of London Corporation and that of the London Stock Exchange. She would focus on the open opportunities for the bodies to invest in the Indian Financial market.

Jaitley would get a welcome in the financial district of London by LSE CEO Xavier Rolet. There would be a group of influential investors present like the leading UK based banking groups, FICCI delegation members like FICCI president and Bharat Hotel’s chairperson Jyotsa Suri, Rajan Bharti Mittal of Bharti Enterprises and Neeraj Kanawr of Apollo Tyres.
