The Round 1 opening–closing ranks for JoSAA Counselling 2026 were announced on June 13, 2026. Aspirants aiming for admission to NIT Surathkal can now check the branch-wise cutoff ranks released by JoSAA to evaluate their chances of securing a seat in upcoming counselling rounds. As one of the premier National Institutes of Technology in India, NIT Surathkal consistently attracts high-ranking JEE Main candidates due to its academic excellence, strong placement record, and industry-focused programmes.

For admission through JEE Main scores, the institute offers seats under both Home State (HS) and Other State (OS) quotas. Among all programmes, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) remains the most competitive branch, followed by Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). Core engineering branches like Civil Engineering continue to offer comparatively higher closing ranks, making them accessible to a broader range of candidates.

What Candidates Should Do Next?

Candidates whose ranks are close to the Round 1 closing ranks should not lose hope if they have not got their preferred branch. Earlier, various branches noticed rank relaxation in subsequent JoSAA rounds due to seat withdrawals, upgrades, and reshuffling of choices. Aspirants should carefully monitor upcoming rounds and keep backup options while participating in the counselling process.

As JoSAA counselling progresses, NIT Surathkal is expected to remain among the most competitive NITs in the country. Candidates targeting CSE, ECE, or Civil Engineering should regularly track round-wise cutoff trends and make informed decisions during choice modification and seat acceptance.
