For the first time in the history of Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) there would be online (computer based) examination conducted by the body for the 3273 vacant seats of Sections Engineers and Junior Engineers. The examination for the post would begin on August 26 and will end on September 4 and would take place in phases. The application process too was made online this time around and almost 18 lakh aspiring applicants applied for the 3273 vacant posts.
The examination is being conducted over 242 cities around India which includes far off locations like North East and Jammu and Kashmir as well. The statement recently issues by the Railway authority has made it clear that the online format is expected to enhance objectivity, transparency and credibility of the examinations conducted by Railway Recruitment Board (RRB).
Due to the fool-proof, secure and user friendly online format of the application process the number of applications has also risen this year for the posts. Candidates are willing to give away the examination in hope that the examination would be transparent as it is going to be online. The online examination would carry objective type questions. There would be four papers namely General Knowledge, General English, Mathematics and General Intelligence in the examination.
RRB is the employment body responsible for recruiting candidates in the Group C and Group D posts of Indian Railways. The body functions under the Ministry of Railways and is divided into 19 regional boards that got head by a Central Control Board.
