Board of Technical Education, Rajasthan has officially announced that the Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process (REAP)-2015 will replace the Rajasthan Pre-Engineering Test (RPET) for offering admissions to various undergraduate engineering programmes in the engineering colleges of Rajasthan. Earlier, the engineering entrance exam conducted by the board was known as Rajasthan Pre-Engineering Test (RPET). With RPET being replaced by REAP from this year, the criteria for admissions will either be the JEE Main-2015 score or Class 12 Marks of the candidate, as per the choice entered by them in the online application. RPET was scrapped by the Board of Technical Education, Rajasthan in the month of April, 2015, the new official name for engineering admission process, Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process (REAP), has been announced in May.
The new admission process that has been introduced by the State Government, allows for 50 percent of the seats in engineering colleges of the State of Rajasthan to be filled through JEE Main-2015. The remaining 50 percent of the seats will be allotted on the basis of the Class XII Merit List. Candidates have the choice of opting either JEE Main or class 12 as their selection channel. Board of Technical Education, Rajasthan will prepare separate merit lists for the candidates admitted through JEE Main and the candidates admitted on the basis of class 12th marks.
The Government has allocated 70 percent of the total seats under home state quota and these seats will be filled up by students from the state of Rajasthan. As much as 15 percent of the seats are reserved under management quota and the remaining 15 percent seats will be filled up by students from outside the state. For candidates belonging to states other than Rajasthan, merit list will be prepared on the basis of their performance in JEE Main. Board of Technical Education, Rajasthan will release REAP-2015 application form tentatively in the month of June, 2015.
