SAC invites applications for induction as JRF and RA

Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad is one of the lead Centers of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Department of Space (DOS). SAC focuses on design of space borne instruments for terrestrial & planetary missions of ISRO and development and operationalisation of space technology for societal benefits.

A Program on Climate change Research in Terrestrial environment (PRACRITI) is initiated to study the impact of climate change on Agriculture System, Himalayan, Cryosphere, Terrestrial Hydrology over India and Sensor System Studies for Monitoring of Green House Gases and Meteorology and Oceanography program. Present thrust areas for applications are towards utilization of data from Indian satellite missions including INSAT-3D, Oceansat-2, Cartosat series RISAT-1, Resourcesat-2, Meghatropiques, etc and the planetary mission like Chandrayaan-1.

SAC invites on-line applications for induction as Junior Research Fellows (JRF) and Research Associates (RA). Interested candidates should apply on line through ISRO website till 23 August 2013.

Vacancy Details:

Age will be reckoned as on 23 August 2013. Persons with Disabilities are eligible for age relaxation as per rules.

Knowledge of Computer Programming is desirable for all JRF posts.

Candidates selected as RA would be awarded one of the mentioned grades of Associateship amount depending on their merit as assessed by the Selection Committee.

Period of Engagement: JRF and RA will be engaged initially for a period of one year. The terms may be extended based on need and assessment of their work and requirement of project.

The maximum period of engagement of JRF shall not exceed 4 years and of RA shall not exceed 3 years.

Selection Procedure: Selection for the posts of JRF and RS will be done on the basis of candidates’ performance in the test / Interview.

Candidates will be short- listed for test / Interview after screening their applications for qualification, percentage etc

Candidate called for test / Interview will have to produce all original testimonials/certificates for verification failing which they will not be allowed to appear for test / Interview and no TA will be reimbursed / paid.  

Travel Allowance: Out-station candidates called for test / interview will be paid to-and-fro second-class railway fare on production of proof of journey.

How to Apply: Interested eligible candidates should register on-line till 23 August 2013 .On successful Registration, an on-line Registration Number will be generated by the system. Candidates should retain this n umber for future use / reference.

After registering, candidates should take a print out of the online submitted application form and send it along with attested copies of required  certificates / testimonials to ‘The Administrative Officer (RMT. & REV.), Building No. 30-D, Space Applications Centre (ISRO), Ambawadi Vistar P.O. Jodhpur Tekra, Ahmedabad – 380 015 (Gujarat)’ through ordinary post only so as to reach  the said office by 2 September 2013.

On the envelope, candidates should super-scribe “Advertisement Number, Post Number and Registration Number”.
