National News Headlines for School Assembly 

  • The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, inaugurated and dedicated to nation the Sudarshan Setu in Gujarat. The bridge connects the Okha mainland and Beyt Dwarka island. It is the longest cable-stayed bridge in the country, at around 2.32 km. This bridge will significantly reduce the time devotees spend travelling between Dwarka and Beyt-Dwarka. The bridge features a footpath adorned with verses from the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and images of Bhagwan Krishna on both sides.
  • The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, lays the foundation stone and dedicates to the nation multiple development projects in Dwarka, Gujarat. He also dedicated to the nation pipeline projects at Vadinar, Rajkot-Okha, Rajkot-Jetalsar-Somnath, and Jetalsar-Wansjaliya rail electrification projects.
  • The 5th edition of India-Japan Joint Military Exercise ‘DHARMA GUARDIAN’ commenced today at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan. The exercise is scheduled to be conducted from February 25th to March 9th, 2024. It is an annual exercise and is conducted alternatively in India and Japan. The joint military exercise will enable both sides to share their best practices in tactics, techniques, and procedures for conducting tactical operations. 
  • The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, will inaugurate ‘Purple Fest’ today. The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will organise a day-long ‘Purple Fest’ at Amrit Udyaan in Rashtrapati Bhawan today. The festival aims to raise awareness about different disabilities and their impact on people's lives and to promote understanding and inclusion of persons with disabilities within society.
  • The Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh, has approved a financial reward for the Armed Forces personnel who bagged medals in the 19th Asian Games and 4th Asian Para Games held in September–October 2023. For both games, gold medal winners will receive a cash reward of Rs 25 lakh each, silver medal winners Rs 15 lakh each, and bronze medal winners Rs 10 lakh each. 
  • The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), under the aegis of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, successfully unveils India's largest battery energy storage system (BESS), which stores energy using solar energy in Chhattisgarh. A solar photovoltaic (PV) plant is located in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. The project was dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing on February 24, 2024.
  • A national event on further strengthening collaboration between the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) and the Ministry of AYUSH for Nutritional Improvement in Adolescent Girls is to be held today. MoWCD and the Ministry of AYUSH have been working towards the promotion of wellness through joint yoga protocols and diet diversity through the consumption of locally grown, wholesome foods. 
  • The Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, is on a one-day tour of Aizawl, Mizoram, today, February 26, 2024. He will address the Ninth Mizoram Legislative Assembly. 
  • The High-Level Committee, constituted under the chairmanship of former President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, to examine the issue relating to the holding of simultaneous elections in the nation and make recommendations thereon, held a meeting in the Office of the Committee in Jodhpur Officers’ Hostel in New Delhi on February 24, 2024.
  • The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple key initiatives for the cooperative sector at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on February 24, 2024. On this occasion, he inaugurated the pilot project of the 'World's Largest Grain Storage Plan in the Cooperative Sector' in 11 PACS of 11 states.

  • The presidential election in Pakistan is set to take place on March 9, 2024.

Science and Technology News

  • A new study tracking pollen from the soil of Kaziranga National Park can interpret climate and vegetation change. Scientists from Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences have developed a modern analogue dataset based on pollen and non-pollen palynomorphs from different vegetation settings across Kaziranga National Park (Assam), which can help in the interpretation of the past vegetation and climate in a region.

Business News

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Bharat Tex 2024 tomorrow, February 26th, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. It is one of the largest-ever global textile events to be organised in the country. It will be organised from February 26–29, 2024. Drawing inspiration from the Prime Minister’s 5F Vision, Bharat Tex 2024 will focus on the entire textile value chain. 
  • As per the National Sample Survey Office's (NSSO) Household Consumption Expenditure Survey (HCES), per capita household consumption expenditure doubled from 2011–12 to 2022–23. NSSO conducted the survey from August 2022 to July 2023.

  • The second season of the Women's Premier League (WPL) started on February 23, 2024. A total of 22 matches will be played in the WPL 2024. The final match of the WPL 2024 will take place on March 17, 2025. Total 5 teams are playing in this season.
