Study in IIT without getting admitted in the institute

Students of other engineering college and non-engineering students can also be able to hear the lectures of renowned professors from IIT-Kanpur and IIT-Madras. As part of an initiative by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, these lectures will be made available to the candidates online for free of cost. The project is named as 'Massive Open Online Course' (MOOC). With the help of MOOC students from engineering as well as other courses will be able to access 18 courses which will be conducted by the seven professors from IIT-K and five professors from IIT-M. All these courses will be available online. Total 18 courses are available online which are the recorded lectures of professors from IIT-K and IIT-M have by recording their lectures which will help the non-IIT students.
About 6,000 students have already enrolled for the courses which will continue till February 28, 2015 and it is estimated that there will be 50,000 registrations for these courses.
The Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) is a new online medium for course delivery and learning. It enables thousands of learners to participate in the same course with high quality content and interactive tools for learning. On this scale, a MOOC can offer a better user experience as compared to a standard web-based course.

Certificate:
Learners who fulfill the minimum participation criteria will be issued certificates of participation. Those who complete online assessments in addition to fulfilling minimum participation requirements will receive certificates of competence. Certificates will be jointly issued by Continuing Education Programme IIT Kanpur, COL and TEQIP.
