The University Grants Commission (UGC) has added Ayurveda Biology as a new subject to the UGC NET 2024 December exam. Organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA), UGC NET is conducted twice a year, in June and December, to assess candidates' eligibility for the role of Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges, as well as for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or both.
This decision was made during the 581st meeting of the UGC held on June 25, 2024, based on the recommendations of an expert committee.
According to the official notification, "Based on the expert committee's recommendations, the Commission, in its 581 meeting held on 25th June 2024, has decided to add "Ayurveda Biology" as an additional subject from December 2024 onwards to the existing list of subjects of UGC NET."
To assist candidates with their preparation, the board has also released the UGC NET syllabus for Ayurveda Biology on its official website.
Earlier in June 2024, the UGC introduced disaster management as a subject. With these two additions, the total number of subjects in UGC NET has now reached 105.
