University Grants Commission (UGC) has scrapped OBC quota benefits for the Professor and Associate Professor posts. As per the new rule set by the Commission, 27% OBC reservation in teaching positions will be applicable for the level of Assistant Professor only.
The Commission has issued notice to all the Central Universities, stating the new policies implemented. As per that for teaching positions, the reservation for SC is 15% and ST is 7.5%. However the 27% OBC reservation benefit will be available for the Assistant Professor post only.
UGC may follow the admission policies as per the provisions of the Central Educational Institutions Act 2006 (amended in 2012). For appointment of non-teaching staffs in Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ posts, posts, the reservation for SC is 15%, ST is 7.5%. For OBC the reservation in direct recruitment is 27%.
