UPSC Geologist Examination 2015: Notification

Union Public Service Commission announced examination schedule for Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination 2015. Eligible candidates can apply online through the prescribed format on or before 20 March 2015.

1. Geologist (Group A)- 150 Posts
2. Geophysicist (Group A)- 40 Posts
3. Chemist (Group A)- 50 Posts

• Category 2: Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources

1. Junior Hydrologists (Scientist B)- 29 Posts

Eligibility Criteria:  

• Geologist (Group A): Masters’ degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum Exploration or Geochemistry or Geological Technology or Geophysical Technology from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956).
• Geophysicist (Group A): M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Applied Geophysics) from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
• Chemist (Group A): M.Sc in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or other educational Institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 i.e., recognized universities.
• Junior Hydrologists (Scientist B):

1. Masters’ degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a university incorporated by an act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or;
2. Masters’ degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized university.

Age Limit:

• For Category 1 Posts:  21-32 Years (Must not have attained 32 years)
• For Category 2 Posts: 21-35 Years (Must not have attained 35 years)

Selection Procedure

Selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of interview/exam conducted by the commission.
