A 2011 data sheet called The World’s Women and Girls released by the Population Reference Bureau revealed that 47% of women in India were married by the age of 18. The average is higher even than South Central Asia which has an average of 45%. Population Reference Bureau is based in New York.

   
However, the report showed that India is better off than Bangladesh, Burkina Faso and Mali.
