President Droupadi Murmu presided at the 70th National Film Awards event on October 8, 2024, at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, honoring awardees for their important achievements to Indian cinema.

A memorable occasion during this award show was the awarding of the coveted Dadasaheb Phalke Award to veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, in honor of his remarkable multi-decade career.

National Film Awards: Celebration of Diversity

President Murmu presented Rishab Shetty with the Best Actor award for his role in Kantara, and Nithya Menen and Manasi Parekh shared the Best Actress title for their roles in Thiruchitrambalam and Kutch Express, respectively. Aattam won the Best Feature Film prize, and Gulmohar was named the Best Hindi Film.

The President acknowledged the great diversity and achievements of Indian cinema in a number of languages and geographical areas throughout the event.
