The AHF-MHC Hockey Academy was inaugurated by Sultan Azlan Shah, President, Asian Hockey Federation on 9 May 2011. The academy once completed can accommodate 100 trainees. Situated adjacent to the hockey fields at the Azlan Shah Stadium, the academy will train coaches, umpires, management personnel and technical officials.
The AHF-MHC Academy will play host to numerous courses, in the field of technical, coaching, umpiring and management to help Asians improve their knowledge in order to improve the standard of hockey. The academy will assist 32 national associations of Asia to improve the quality and increase the number of hockey officials in Asia.
A committee under the Chairmanship of MHC Vice President cum Perak Hockey President Dato Rahim Mohd Ariff was established and met 12 times over the past year to meet the deadline of having the academy up and running before the 20th edition of the Sultan Azlan shah Cup.
