BJP Parliamentary Board announced Narendra Modi as its Prime Ministerial candidate

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on 13 September 2013 announced that Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujarat would be its Prime Ministerial candidate for 2014 general elections.

About Narendra Modi

• He is the 14th and current Chief Minister of Gujarat state in India.
• He was a key strategist for the success of BJP in 1995 and 1998 Gujarat state election campaigns.
• He first became chief minister of Gujarat in October 2001, being promoted to the office upon the resignation of his predecessor, Keshubhai Patel.
• He served as second time Chief minister of Gujarat from 2002-2007.
• He served as third time Chief minister of Gujarat from 2007-2012.
• He was reelected as for the fourth time as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2012.
•  In July 2007, he became the longest-serving Chief Minister in Gujarat's history when he had continued to remain in power for 2063 days continuously.
