On 20 July 2010, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) Chairman C. S. Verma inaugurated the Rs. 805-crore blast furnace-2 upgradation project of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL). Blast Furnace-2 is the first unit commissioned under BSL's current phase of expansion and modernisation and forms a part of SAIL's growth plan to take hot metal production capacity to 23.5 million tonnes by 2012-13.
