US President Barack Obama signed into law a border security Bill on 13 August 2010. The objective of the border security bill(law) is to strengthen the security along with the US- Mexico border. It will help US restraining the illegal immigrants entering into US from Mexico and also at the same time controlling criminal gangs operating near the US- Mexico border area. The bill will cost US 600 million dollars and it will be raised by increasing the visa fees from foreign companies.

Earlier, the US Congress on 12 August 2010 voted for the legislation to strengthen the security along the US- Mexican border and to deal with the problem of illegal immigrants.

The problem of illegal immigrants has turned into a politically sensitive issue in US. The fund of 600 million dollars will be spent for 1500 new border patrols, custom inspectors and other law implementing authorities to safeguard the border of USA alongside the border of Mexico.

India lodged its protest with US on its recent decision to hike via fees on foreign companies because Indian companies operating in the US will be severely affected.
