To celebrate the 1000th year of building of the Rajarajesvaram temple at Thanjavur by Raja Raja Chola, the “Brhan-Natya Yagna” would be jointly organised by the Association of Bharatanatyam Artistes of India (ABHAI) and the Brhan Natyanjali Trust, Thanjavur in Sep 2010. The Rajarajesvaram temple is popularly called the Brihadisvara or the Big Temple. One thousand dancers from different parts of India and abroad would come together to perform Bharatanatyam. Padma Subrahmanyam, eminent dancer and ABHAI president would choreograph the performance and compose the music for it. She chose 11 verses (called Tiruvisaippa) in Tamil composed by Karuvur Thevar, the guru of Raja Raja Chola which would be used to set the music.
