The Cochin Shipyard Ltd on 10 February 2011 signed contracts with Shipping Corporation of India Ltd (SCI) for two 120 tonne bollard pull anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTS). The vessels are of AH03 design, designed by STX Europe and are classified under the Rules and Regulations of American Bureau of Shipping under Dual Class with the Indian Register of Shipping. The vessels are powered by 2 x 4000 kW engines and are equipped with a 300 tonnes anchor handling winch, dynamic positioning grade 1, fire fighting grade 1. The vessels are also capable of all normal offshore supply functions. The vessels meet the requirements of ERRV Group C (Emergency Rescue & Response Vessel) and can accommodate 29 persons. The vessel will enable standby and rescue functions in case of an oil field exigency. The vessel will fly the Indian Flag on delivery and will be registered at Mumbai. They will have to undergo will undergo bollard pull testing at the 500 tonne bollard pull test facility established at Vizhinjam by CSL in cooperation with Kerala Ports Department.
