CSIR-CFTRI develops Nutrice Cream
Nutrice cream is an Omega-3 and Vitamin-E enriched frozen nutritional dessert from vegetarian source. This product will provide the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of omega-3 for children in one serving.
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR-CFTRI) Mysuru on 4 August 2016 developed the Nutrice Cream.
Nutrice cream was developed in association with M/s Oleome Biosolutions, Bengaluru and M/s Dairy Classic Ice Creams Pvt. Ltd.
About Nutrice cream
• Nutrice cream is an Omega-3 and Vitamin-E enriched frozen nutritional dessert from vegetarian source.
• This product will provide the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of omega-3 for children in one serving.
• It has been developed using Chia seeds, having the highest content of Omega-3 fat from a vegetarian source.
• CFTRI has developed agro technology for Chia and has shared the seeds to farmers from across the nation.
Dietary supplementation of Omega-3 (ω-3) fats, which are the Poly Unsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFA), have been reported to have beneficial health functions including brain development in children and good health in elderly population.
