1. (b) Parachute Regiment

The Chief of Army Staff, General MM Naravane,  presented the prestigious ‘President’s Colours’ to four battalions of the Parachute Regiment on February 23, 2022. The units include 11 Parachute (Special Forces), 21 Parachute (Special Forces), 23 Parachute and 29 Parachute.

2. (b) 1945

The Parachute Regiment is an airborne and special forces regiment of the Indian Army. The Regiment was first raised in 1945 as part of the British Indian Army. It was disbanded after the Second World War and was raised again in 1952 as a part of the Indian Army.

3. (b) UK

The multi-nation air exercise called 'Cobra Warrior' will be held from 6-27 March, 2022 at Royal Air Force Base in Waddington, United Kingdom. The Cobra Warrior Exercise is one of the largest annual Royal Air Force exercises and aims to train both pilots and other air specialists in planning and executing complex airborne missions.

4. (a) LCA Tejas

India will be sending five indigenous LCA Tejas fighter aircraft to participate in the Cobra Warrior exercise in the United Kingdom. A C-17 aircraft will also go along to provide transport support. The IAF jets will participate in the exercise along with the fighter aircraft of UK and other leading Air Forces. 

5. (d) Maheswari Amma

KPAC Lalitha passed away on February 22, 2022 in Kochi after battling a liver-related ailment for a long time. The veteran actor was born as Maheswari Amma in Kayamkulam, Alappuzha. She starred in over 550 films in Malayalam and Tamil in her nearly five-decade career.

Asha Parekh was honoured with Outstanding Contribution to Films award at Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2022. The  Film of the Year award went to 'Pushpa: The Rise' and Best International Feature Film award went to Another Round, a comedy-drama film directed by Thomas Vinterberg.

7. (a) Israel

Israel has successfully tested a new naval air defence system called 'C-Dome'. It is a naval version of Israel's Iron Dome, which is an air defence system that can intercept and destroy short range rockets and missiles.
