The theme of the week is Get up, Green Up. The week aimed to promote construction of environment-friendly buildings.
The DMRC has partnered with the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The Delhi Metro has decided to design all its phase-III stations as green buildings.
Benefit of Green Metro
In a green Metro, the energy consumption will come down by 20 per cent and fresh water usage will come down by 30 per cent.
Green Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) Rating
Earlier, in September 2014, the DMRC launched the IGBC Green Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) rating in association with the IGBC and other stakeholders.
The rating was launched at the 12th edition of the CII-IGBC Green Building Congress meet at Hyderabad.
The rating is the world’s first comprehensive rating for rail-based MRTS networks.
MRTS projects will holistically apply this rating during design and construction, so as to enhance environmental benefits.
