Ehud Barak, the defence minister of Israel announced on 26 November 2012 that he would quit from the political life after national elections which are to be held on 22 January 2013.
Ehud Barak is the Israeli politician and served as the prime minister from 1999 to 2001. He remained the leader of Labor Party till January 2011. At present, under the government of Binyamin Netanyahu, he holds two posts Defence Minister as well as Deputy Prime Minister.
Ehud Barak became the Minister of Defence in Israel on 18 June 2007. In January 2011, Barak also formed his own breakaway party- Independence.
