After two rounds of preliminary interviews and a challenging application process, the Rhodes Scholars-Elect for India 2025 have been selected.
Five students from India have earned the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship. They will join the University of Oxford in October 2025 as part of a group of over 100 scholars from across the world. The scholarship will fully cover their postgraduate studies.
Who are the Five Indian Students?
The five recipients of this scholarship are, Rayan Chakrabarti, Vibha Swaminathan, Avanish Vats, Shubham Narwal, and Pal Aggarwal.
The group includes a law student focused on citizenship rights, a philosophy student interested in studying knowledge-based injustice, a literature student aiming to specialize in museum anthropology, an astrophysics enthusiast from IIT-Bombay, and a veterinarian passionate about wildlife conservation.
What will Happen Now?
The selected students will have the opportunity to travel to the University of Oxford to pursue fully supported postgraduate studies with over a hundred scholars from around the globe. They will have to travel to London in the month of October 2025.
What is the Rhodes Scholarship?
Established at the University of Oxford in 1903, the Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest and most prestigious graduate fellowship in the world. Scholarships in India started in 1947 and have been given to five applicants annually. Applications for Rhodes Scholarships are accepted from students all over the world.
Objective of Rhodes Scholarship
The goal of the Rhodes selection process is to select young individuals who have demonstrated academic excellence and who also exhibit extraordinary character, leadership, the drive to fully utilize their skills, and a dedication to addressing the problems facing humanity. A selection committee made up of leaders and specialists in several industries conducts a thorough screening procedure prior to the final interview.
