The Central bank in South Korea stated on 21 April 2011 stated that the foreign investment in South Korea increased in 2010. The foreign investment registered an amount of 825 billion US dollars at the end of 2010, which is an increase of 13.6 percent from the previous year. The European Union and the USA are the largest investors in South Korea in terms of portfolio investment.
The US was the largest investor in local stocks with 131.1 billion US dollars while EU invested the largest amount of 51.2 billion US dollars in buying Korean bonds. South Korea’s share prices jumped about 21 percent in 2010. South Korea is Asia’s fourth largest economy.
